Thought about heading for the eastern plains of NM for a storm chase today, but with the likelihood of fast-moving, linear storms in an area with a poor road network, I instead stuck to my original plan of skiing. I thought I might still see some interesting weather, as the setup was very favorable for thundersnow, and I was not disappointed! I caught some interesting structure as an intense convective snow band approached and moved over Ski Santa Fe with a few rumbles of thunder, as well as some video of the intense snow and graupel at the height of the storm. It was almost like storm chasing on skis! Account, pictures, and video at:

Yep, it's a thunderstorm but with snow instead of rain...one of the coolest weather phenomena there is (I know...bad weather pun :p). But thundersleet is even cooler IMO :D
