Something must have frozen up. I wonder if Gore has anything definitive on this? I understand he's a rocket scientist on the side.
When disturbing and mysterious things like this happen, I'm always on the edge of my seat waiting for the debate about what happened to be over so we can put it in a lock box and move on with our lives telling others what to do in righteous peace.
Crashed and burned just like the concept...my guess is that Al Gore was found sucking his thumb and has decided to seek after the skunk ape....his next money making venture.
The loss of this satellite was a real setback at a critical time, when we need much more data on our earth (and, IMHO, not so much on the moon and extraterrestrial planets). Here's hoping the latest Fed budget gets the science priorities right so that we can get good info from other instruments on CO2 sinks, etc.
Yep Eric. Does not matter what side of the debate you're on, observations from space are always handy. This was actually supposed to be the last satellite in the A-train. So too bad the caboose cut loose.
Thanks Aaron, nice graphic. For many years (and still as a consultant) I was sharing a seat in the lead engine - Aura - with my colleagues at NASA. Fortunately the Ozone Monitoring Instrument there is still functioning. And fortunately we are long past the debate about whether humans caused the ozone hole!
