FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TWISTEX Memorial Fund reaches monetary goal; dedication planned

EL RENO, OK, October 22, 2015 – Directors for the TWISTEX Memorial Fund announce today, a ceremony honoring three storm chasers killed in El Reno two years ago. The memorial is in the form of a large permanent granite roadside marker that outlines the events that took place that fateful day in 2013.

The unveiling will occur at 4pm on Saturday, October 31st. This date was chosen as it coincides with the annual National Weather Festival held in Norman at the National Weather Center. Many family and friends are expected to attend. To RSVP, navigate to http://j.mp/twistex.

Background:
On May 31, 2013, Tim Samaras, his 24-year-old son Paul Samaras, and 45-year-old California native Carl Young lost their lives in El Reno, Oklahoma when a record wide multiple-vortex tornado made a sudden, unexpected turn directly at them. They were unable to escape due to a combination of road network and rapid expansion of the funnel.

Recognition:
First and foremost, the TWISTEX Memorial Fund directors would like to thank those generous individuals and entities that donated to the fund. People from all over the world came together in support of this effort and we are thrilled to deliver on our promise.

We would also like to thank District 3 Canadian County Commissioner, Mr. Jack Stewart for assisting fund Directors with acquisition of easement for the marker.

Twistex Memorial Fund Directors are:
