Maximum Signal Amplifiers By SCT

Yeah Gordon, came in right around that time. It unpacked and installed (where I hope it'll work OK). I'll post a picture of the set-up. It's on a little shelf mount thing I made for chasing (leaving May 1 as you know). Powers up good, and probably won't be able to test it until once on the road May 1st as we depart Maryland. SN will be up for tracking reasons. I may stream some to test everything. Streaming will just be us in the car, talking about stuff, don't expect storms on the way out.

I've only now sat down to eat (and watch TV)...crazy busy.

Add:

Here is a picture of the Amp along side "the power platform" that is mounted on a small frame, polycarb board, ready to go (except connect the exterior antenna). I suspect even though the antenna is low, it'll be fine for in car use.

Jason,

Nice and clean!! A couple questions:
1.) Wonder if you'll see any RF interference or degradation in the Maximum Signal due to the proximity of all the other electronics?
2.) What is everything mounted to (that black board) and how? (velcro?) and where did you get it?
3.) What is the item in the bottom center? Looks like a 3 prong cig adapter of sorts? If so (or even if not) do you have a plain English wiring schematic for that, the power adapter, and whatever else is in that string of red/black wires? Wonder if I can eliminate some stuff by organizing like you have.

Thanks in advance and if deemed off topic, please feel free to PM me.

1.) That's a good question, I'll keep an eye for that. It might. I've see that be an issue for other things.
2.) The black board is a plastic/polycarb kitchen cutting board. I stole it from the remains of the weather station mount'g system I had. I painted it black with a Rustelum (sp?) rattle can that said it's for plastics (will bend a little..use it on my deck furniture pretty successfully). That is mounted to a small metal rack shelf thingy I bought at Target for $6 in the bathroom section. I cut two of the legs a little shorter to compensate for the slight unevenness of the rear floor. The Maximum Signal is velco'd with industrial level stuff from the 'depot'. I did it that way in case I need to move the amp higher up in the car.
3.) Yes, the block box is the 3 additional cig. style extension. I bought it years ago before my first chase in 1997. I got it at RatShack (they still had stuff like that then). I don't have the internal wiring, but it's pretty simple. The + and - leads (read and black) go into a terminal block (what's covered with elect. tape and velcro'd to the top of the inverter, also purchased at the depot). I'll do a photoshopped diagram of needed for the whole thing shortly.

Gordon,

I am entralled by all the positive responses here on the board, and as a current Wilson Amplifier owner I was wondering if you could detail some of the improvements that your system offers over their dual-band wireless kit.

If I can get better signal, bet your bottom $ that I'll be making an order!

- far Better signal amplification
- Far better range inside vehicle
- Does not adversely effect cellular carriers networks
- Draws far less power .25 -.40 amps compared to 2 to 3 amps
- much smaller
- does not get dangerously hot as unit you referred to does
- passes all new standards being implemented by Carriers and FCC in the very near future

Gordon,

Before I place my order I have another question. With my Wilson unit, antenna seperation was critical and I almost always ended up oscillating. Will there be any issues if I mount a windshield antenna on the back windshield so that it does not extend above the top of the vehicle. The vehicle is a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited Hardtop, the interior antenna would likely be mounted on the "roof" above the center console. Just wondering if you think an exterior antenna position that is vertical, but not "above" the top of the vehicle will have any effect on reception? Normally I would use a magnet mount option, but the roof is composite so I have no viable flat steel that would leave the antenna in a vertical position :(

Thanks again, I'm getting excited to try this out!

These units do not need as much separation . And there are default lights that tell you if you need to separate further.

Perfect. Is there any viable issue with having the verticle position of the exerior antenna not extend above the vehicle's top?

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for the fast shipment! I have not been able to really test it out as I am in a very good cell reception area. Relating to the antenna spacing, if the interior and exterior antennas are too close, should I get a fault light? Since I have the mag mount antenna, can I basically install in anywhere on the roof just as long as I do not fault the amp? Thanks again!

correct , try to put mag mount as far back as you can . At least 8 inches from edge of roof
