• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I was wondering if there was any way to get archived data (I.E radar/satellite) for this day. I haven't seen anything about this day anywhere. http://youtube.com/watch?v=YIAatv3GM9w - This hits home because this video is basically taken from my neighborhood when I was there. Was only 3 years old, I want to say this is the remnant of the F3 that hit Lemont. Any sources or points in the right direction would be great!

We had a nice supercell come right up over Schaumburg that afternoon. I remember walking out into my backyard and seeing a swirling cloudbase with a funnel directly over my head. I was in 5th grade at the time. Then quater and golf-ball size hail came down as a new storm formed next to it.

You can also try Wikipedia. I found a gold mine of information in regards to atmospheric conditions that existed on the 8/28/90 F5 that hit Plainfield, Il. My shop is right along US 30 where it was the strongest. I still have yet to see any photos of that storm.

I saw ONE photo of Plainfield(couldn't even say for sure it was of the tornado)....all it was was a BLACK MASS of rain and clouds, and the photographer said the telephone poles along US 30 were vibrating like tuning forks. I wish I can remember where I saw it....I want to say an old archived newspaper...

That photo was taken by NIU Meteorologist, Gilbert Sebenste. It was of the wall cloud after the tornado had lifted. He is on Stormtrack on occasion. The photo I believe was on the old Stormchaser Homepage before it became StormTrack.

Ahhh yes that is probably right. In this day and age if that happened you'd have 10000 videos within hours......I am sure SOMEWHERE someone has an image or short VHS of what may have happened, but have never released it. Just like it took 17 years for that gentleman to post the video I linked above.
