Major Winter Storm for NW Jan 16-18

RMacDonald

Looking at potential for some significant snowfall across the NW US areas. Particularly across the Western Washington areas. Right now tracking the heaviest event for snow on the 18th, with some areas potentially seeing 12"+ of accumulations. Tracking WA on my smartcast at http://smartwxmodel.net/WA.html

14Z SmartCast Update, looking for potential of 12-15" of snow across my area of Olympia, WA, with general 8-10" across Tacoma to Seattle corridor. Right now showing heaviest snow moving in around the 18/13Z to 19/19Z, with snowfall rates up to 1.9" per hour. Then quickly changing over to rain as the modified warm air overtakes the atmosphere.

Been in a lull for most of the day here in Enumclaw; shadow effect of southern Olympics. Received 9" of snow yesterday and overnight, but temps are now up to 36 degrees.
Frazier outflow... hope it gets down here in time to keep us all snow for most of the day tomorrow. Personally; I'm hoping for over 1' of snow! Bring it on!
As for now; all that is active is the PSCZ.

32 degrees up here on the north end in Lynnwood. A nice little convergence zone set up here most of the day dropping 3 or 4 inches of snow. The storm sounds like it'll move a bit further south than previously expected, so we might be lucky to get 6 inches up here now. I hope the original numbers end up being true, would love to get a foot of snow. :)

Seeing the system starting to materialize on the radar off the coast of Oregon. Still looking for a solid 10" of snow across the Olympia, WA areas, with a small periods of possible mixed precip of Freezing Rain. I am in the Lacey/Olympia area, will try push out some pics when the brunt of the storm hits for us.

15Z SmartCast Update: Currently I have 8" here in Lacey, WA. Looking at Tacoma, Olympia areas with potential for additional 6" of snow from now til 23Z. Snowfall rates around 1" per hour and visibilities down to 1/4. Elsewhere, looking at 2-4" of additional snow around Seattle areas.
