Major arctic surge next week?

Indy

Im outside of Indy in the suburbs.

We had a 2 hour delay today, tomorrow...no school..

It reached a low of -7.9ºF at my house at 8:20a this morning. The forecast was -3F...My anemometer is broke so I have no wind chill readings :( But winds were gusting ~30 mph yesterday.

It is 3:34pm and it has reached up to 1.9ºF Coldest day I can remember here in my life.

Wind chill readings were approaching -50 here last night and this morning, actual temp was somewhere around -24. Tonight should be a couple degrees cooler but with less wind we may only see the wind chill drop to about -45, lol.

-24 here this morning and only made it back to -10 for a high. Wind chills have been below -40 much of the day.

Supposed to hit -31 tonight with some areas approaching -35! Amazing for this far south!

-10 here right now. Not cold enough to turn hot water into snow when you fill up a pan and then fling it outside...maybe later...

Temp was -22F here at 8 am this morning, supposed to get down close to -27F tonight. This is quite impressive for being this close to the downtowns. Areas in the Arrowhead of Minnesota have gotten down to -48F for an air temp, wind chills obviously well below that.

-28F in Ames the past few hours. We have now "warmed up" to -26F.

Just a little chilly.

Most of the schools in central Iowa are closed due to the cold. Of course, Iowa State University is open.

Bring it on.

.....and I'm only at 10°f here in Gaithersburg, MD....and everyone around here is say how bone chilling cold it is :)

Me....I want it colder.....I'd love to experience Antarctica's -100° temperatures someday.

Already at -24 here. Winds should drop off to less than 5mph later tonight allowing us to approach or exceed -30. All this deep/dry snowcover (11") is aiding in extreme cold.

Maybe I shouldn't complain...suddenly, 27 (above) sounds downright balmy. Break out the shorts! LOL

Coldest day at Indianapolis since 1997. Low was -12ºF.

It reached -14.9ºF at my house...which is easily the coldest I've had since moving here in 2000. Wind chills were near -30ºF

I know our temperatures here are nothing compared to you guys up north, but for us here in the south it was pretty chilly this morning. It was 8 degrees when I woke up. We got a few more days of this, then a warm up. Stay warm.

Bottomed out at -32 this morning. Just to my east at Sterling they hit -34. By far the coldest air I've ever felt. I don't know how they do it in Alaska where temps like these are very common. You must just get used to it after awhile.

Wichita was not as cold as you guys have reported, as we were above 0 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday :p. However, it was still down right cold. The day seemed to get colder as it went on. At 6am, the temperature was 10 degrees and had dropped to 8 degrees at 11:30am. The cold should be shorted lived here at least as today's high was 40 and tomorrow's is supposed to climb all the way to 50 degrees. My Siberian Husky dog is going to miss the cold weather :).
