Collecting hail and transporting it long distance before it melts could be difficult at best. Plus you have to wait for it to occur and be at the right place to collect it. An easier option my be to go over the a local ice rink. They tend to collect large amounts of ice shavings when they resurface the ice. If you get there at the right time, you can scoop it up by the coolerful. Pack the shavings down into small, compact snowballs, about the size you need and then put them in the freezer. If done right, you should be able to get something that very closely resembles large hail and in enough quantity for the photoshoot.
