• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Has anyone used one of these - they offer up to 120W with a DC conversion option for laptops. Looks like reasonable cost on Ebay. and you get multiple tips, etc.

Just think if this would work it would be a lot easier and more efficient as a stand alone inverter would not be needed.

I just bought the 120W Kensington power adapter and it works quite well. The only issue I have with it is that it can't draw enough power through my three outlet DC power strip, so I either have to tie up my main DC outlet with the Kensington adapter, or plug in the power inverter and use my regular AC power adapter with it. Another minor issue is that the power cables work themselves loose every now and then, but it’s nothing major. You just have to check it every now and then to make sure the laptop is still getting power. It definitely does power the laptop adequately though, and the tips fit well.

In an emergency situation I had to buy a Kensington adaptor for my laptop last September (I was about to embark upon a big chase and discovered my cat had chewed my adaptor in two pieces). The Kensington ended up failing a few months later after less than five uses. Thereafter I just went with a Dell adaptor off of Ebay--even bought an extra to act as a spare. At least you're looking on Ebay for the Kensington; I can't remember what I paid for mine at Circuit City, but it was rather outrageous. I believe they come with a one-year warranty if you are concerned about going with this product.

John,

I use mine continuously for two years now with no issues at all. I have the "guts" of a laptop permanently installed in my vehicle. I use it everyday for several hours.
