It is interesting to see who on this list is and isn't still active on ST.

Interesting - but some of those numbers may be a little off as to representing one's level of dedication to this forum. At first glance the post counts in the thousands make it seem like we're Stormtrack junkies, spending every waking hour here.

Checking ST is a 5-minute, 2 or 3 times daily routine for me (sometimes more during active weather or sky events). My post count is spread out over the course of more than 4 years. I've averaged around one post per day since 2005.

I wonder what a stat table showing average posts per day would look like - that list would look very different I'm sure.

yeah...it'll take some time, but I think below I mentioned some of the post count frequency. Lately...thanks to the ban thread I'm up over 1.10 posts per day. I post a lot, because for the past year I have not had a corporate job, and make a little money from the computer, and am at home a bit. As noted, many of the top posters don't even post anymore, so they are quickly dropping down. Folks like Shane took a leave of absence for a little while too.

Also, don't forget that Bar & Grill doesn't count toward the total post count.

I made the 1000 Post Club Eh? :D Probably if you counted my old Storm Track posts I'd be way up there. Not as active lately - distracted by other stuff such as studying database but you can bet I'll be on it as the season warms up. I'm down but not out Baby!

This thread needs an update. I'm pretty sure Shane is also now in the 3000 club. I'll have to do some number crunching in the next few days....when I have some spare time. I love playing with stats, but it's low priority.

Post Count??

Does the post count go back to 2004 or does it start after Stormtrack got reorganized in 2005?? I was active with Stormtrack 2004-2005, then I dropped off the radar for a while. I rejoined the group this past year and my post count that started last year is relatively small compared to the giants that have been here forever! :(

I'm not sure, but I bet it goes back to whenever the first date is on the members list. I also think that post counts can drop when some threads are archived, but Tim V. will have to confirm all that. I don't remember back the far, was hardly active. As you can see, I didn't rejoin until very late 2007.

How about us guys that did things hardcopy? LOL....sitting at 976 posts. Maybe the active spring ahead  will bring me up over the 1000 posts for my online ST career.

Hey it's not always about the size, err number of your posts, it's the quality that counts!

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I just wish there was a numerical way to quantify that. I mean hell, I've posted a lot, but the overall quality isn't there. I just post because I enjoy it, and hopefully others do to.

I've often wondered if a post or rating system would work here, but that is for a whole other thread to discuss.

If everyone's post "quality" was even 50%, this board would die six months of the year. The type of "world" ST would be if the ones who seek "quality" had their way would be one where you peek in once every month or so to see if anything's new.

FWIW, I'd imagine my "quality" rating has dropped accordingly in conjunction with my opinion of the forum itself.

I think too many people are waiting for this magic quality. I joined in 06 but IMO the quality is the same the only thing that has changed is the amount of new members is growing at a rapid pace. ST should just not accept any new members for a year so the current members can level the place out.

Each person who has experience and knowledge is out-weighed by 5 who don't. To those 5 people this place is great but for those who are sick of answering the same questions over and over again it becomes annoying when their needs and expectations aren't meant. People can only give for so long until they expect something in return, its just human nature.

Interesting weather helps too...I presume this place will flourish once March rolls around and things get going.
