January 8-11, 2008 Major/extreme winter storm?

Well the second low is acting as planned, but it's just barely lacking enough cold air for widespread snows. Very unusual for this time of year. I sort of figured the models were underdoing the amount of cold air that would draw into this storm due to it being mid-January, but apparently they had it nailed fairly accurately a few days back.

Anyway a nice deformation band with some moderate to heavy radar returns from MO up into WI. Just plain old rain on it's east side, with a big mix-bag on the western side.
