Shear doesn't look half bad for this thing after tomorrow :) Who said the season was dead ?

Good day all,

Anyone READ the text NHC put out on this ... It clearly says "upper-level winds will become LESS favorable in a few days" - Not more, as mentioned earlier in this thread.

We're not in the Pacific and it's 2009 - Rememba?

Let wait and see on this - We got a long and agonizing wait to see this system do anything - Including turn away / die at the last minute.

When it is 50 miles ESE of Miami, moving WNW at 15 MPH, then I'll believe it ;-)

How about we hope that a Hurricane doesn't hit the United States.

How about we hope that a tornado doesn't hit the United States-- or lightning or any weather worth photographing or shooting? In that kind of world, I wonder what we'd discuss all day on a storm chasers' forum-- fantasy storms? :D

Back on topic...

Invest 91L isn't looking so hot tonight. The satellite eclipse has just ended and it's just not coming together-- which is disappointing, as I thought it would get a diurnal-max boost tonight. The Atlantic just doesn't seem to have the magic this year.

maybe those that wish it would and those that don't - well, cancel each other out and Mother Nature does what she wants to do in order to maintain natural atmospheric and planetary balance - for zillions of years. Wishing never made a hurricane hit or miss. But I will say this . . . Weather sure is interesting and fascinating - a lot more than a bunch of other topics I can think of . . .

At least this year, you were a very smart man, Jim ...

You basically threw your hands up with chasing anything in the United States, and went off to the other side of the World WHERE the action IS ... Hat's off and good luck to you ... My kind of chaser!

A new Tropical Storm

1. SATELLITE IMAGES INDICATE THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RAPID INCREASE IN
THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY ASSOCIATED WITH THE LOW PRESSURE AREA LOCATED
ABOUT 525 MILES EAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS. THIS SYSTEM IS
ALREADY PRODUCING TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS...AND ADVISORIES WILL
BE INITIATED ON TROPICAL STORM HENRI AT 5 PM AST. THIS SYSTEM IS
EXPECTED TO MOVE NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS AND REMAIN
WELL NORTH OF THE LESSER ANTILLES.

Wow-- I'm surrpised this one managed to pull together. Looking at the satellite imagery, you can see that the deep convection is just starting to cover the center. It'll be interesting to see what happens with this when/if t6he shear mellows out a little.

The NHC's 5 pm EDT forecast should be interesting-- both from a track and intensity perspective.

We have TS Henri...

Good day all,

Henri has formed, despite a horrible environment plagued with SW effective shear.

He won't last long, though, as shear will increase even more, long before it gets within 1000 miles of FL.

MODS: Take off the "FL threat" and re-name this thread to "TS Henri" ... Please.

Yes Chris, the Mo-Jo is on this side of the world and you have to pick which one you want. Like Melor or Parma. I went after Melor and James Reynolds went after Parma. His journey was a lot more dangerous than mine. I'm still hoping to get the eye of a supertyphoon out here. The season lasts through December so there is plenty of time left.

Yes indeed ... Go get 'em Jim - I envy U - Good luck!

The Atlantic is trash this year ... I want some Asian action!

You must be new here.

Do you think that someone posting on an internet forum has any effect on the atmosphere? The storms (hurricanes, tornadoes, etc) are going to happen whether or not we are there to witness them. They will form at their own leisure regardless of the number of us weather-weenies hoping for it.

Back on topic of storm chasing and hoping unabashedly for a powerful and intercept-able storm that causes minimal destruction:

The Atlantic 'season' is all but over, especially for any Cape Verde systems.
