• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Icon Display Changes Coming to Spotter Network!!

I just recently took the test via NCR but I am having issues/problems. When I log into SN it still shows that I can not give reports. Am I missing something? I think if I remeber correctly, this was an issue they had and was to be addressed.

I have sent Tyler a PM but have not heard anything yet. Any other ideas???

The one idea that would greatly enhance the program
is if somehow SN could show other types of training/certifications
they hold. Confirm-able items such as the FEMA courses
IS-100, IS-700 and IS-271.

We would love to! Only problem is how do we validate you actually have the cert? It's the same problem with SKYWARN training and the reason I'm jumping up and down about a national skywarn database. Nobody thinks about having third parties validate you actually took the training. They just hand out a paper certificate and pat you on your head. That doesn't do any good operationally. You have to be able to validate the certificate or the certificate is of no value.

And no...I'm not going to accept photocopies and do it manually.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone....no fun.

But the certs. can be download in .pdf format.
Could they upload the cert and then the
system creates a link to said cert. from the website
under that spotters name?

I wonder if they allow access to the database containing
who has taken what?

Tossing an idea around...

Tim

There's no way to scan a PDF and match first/last name. Or at least I don't know of one. I don't want to be a repository of certs, I just want to know if you have one.

Unless FEMA has an open database already, I doubt they're going to build one just for us :)

FCC has one. They did it right.

Very few (any?) media outlets are monitoring every Skywarn net in their DMA to hear absolutely every report. They however can do so with SpotterNet, and it's the only way to do so when are on the air doing a cut-in.

Shhhh! You're hurting the sacred cow's feelings! ;)
