• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

howdy,i should be chasing in late April, all of May and much of June. i need unlimited data sim card. international roaming data is expensive... and coverage map is limited. is there a service for unlimited data prepaid plan for visitors? or, anyone has a data sim card he dont use for a few weeks and wants to rent to me ? which is best data coverage out there, cingular-ATT ?if i buy a iphone and sign data plan, is the sim card useable in another phone/PDA ?the goal is to stream live pix and vids with Nokia N95 with kyte and qik.

Olivier - You can tranfer a SIM card from one handset to another, as long as the handset is "unlocked". When you buy a phone/smartphone/PDA from a certain carrier it will be locked to their network. If you buy the same unit from an online internet provider and you buy it "unlocked" then it won't be locked to any particular carrier, but it will cost you more. Just make sure the SIM card, handset, and carrier are all compatible. Most in the US are either CDMA or GSM carriers. TMobile is a GSM carrier, but their data protocol (EDGE) isn't as fast as the CDMA carriers (EVDO).

Thanks,
Mark

EVDO seems good with Verizon but i would have to get a new phone with it and the few EVDO phones they offer don't run the application I want. So I have to go with GSM/GPRS/EDGE/3G SIM technology, to use with my Nokia N95.

best data coverage in the Plains , seems to me , is from ATT cingular.

anyone can get me a MEDIAMAX 200 data plan from cingular ? share ?

i do get international roaming with my swiss SIM in the Plains, but it is very costly, and most of all the coverage map is much smaller ( they do not offer the same coverage as for national clients) and is limited to GPRS ( no EDGE, no 3G). that is why I really want a cingular data plan to use in my phone

I think you'll find Sprint or AllTel much more reliable (and faster!!) in the plains. With alltel and sprint, nearly all of Kansas is covered in EVDO, along with most of E. NE and parts of OK and TX. Much of the rest of the plains is well blanketed by their 1xRTT with very few coverage gaps. Your best bet is to get an aircard use it while you're here, and then pay the early termination fee when you're done.

as someone who has had ATT and Spring data cards, I can tell you that sprint is much more reliable. In OK, KS, and CO. I had it for the trip to Denver last week and it was amazing how good the signal was. with a 13bdi Antenna :)

It's a shame that Sprint has almost no coverage in the deep south along with verizion. I guess that for now I will be stuck with Edge untill we get a massive 3G rollout by the end of 2008. 3g is the future not EVDO !

Media max 200 is dead and all data plans from ATT now have a limit of 5 gigs.
