• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Handango has their Tether software on sale for 50% off. It usually is $49.99 but it's $24.98 if you use the code TETHER50 at checkout. The sale is good through 01/10/2010.

For that price, I'm going to buy it and try it before chase season. They claim that you can use it with any carrier and you don't have to pay tethering fees. I'm with Verizon, so I'm curious if it will work as intended. But even if I do get charged when I use it, it will be worth having a backup is I have a hardware failure with my UM-150.

I do have one question for those who tether with a Balckberry: Can you tether to a Cradlepoint Router? Is there software or an app for that?

What phone are you using? Even at 50% that's just close to what others charge. Ooops sorry see your not using a phone but a usb card. Since you mentioned blackberry though...When I had my blackberry 8830 you could simply install the blackberry desktop software and then windows would see the phone as a modem. Then just setup a dial up connection and dial the #777 to connect to the internet through the phone. This was for USB tether and the software was free.

Just doing a google search here's what i found on the cradlepoint website:
Blackberry Devices running the 5.0 Version of Blackberry Operating System are known to have problems connecting to CradlePoint routers. It is recommended that users wanting to connect or “tether” to a CradlePoint router with their Blackberry device use the 4.x or earlier Blackberry Operating Systems.

I'm using the 8830 also. But Verizon must have become wise to that, because I've tried exactly that and you do connect to the internet, but the first page you come to is a Verizon page that asks you to set up a data plan account. You can't go anywhere else.
