• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hello I'm new here and I need some help please...I am running grlevel3 using windows 10 and having a difficult time of creating a .pal file for gr3.Can anyone please explain to me how to do this using windows 10?

Hi Charlie,

The way I have always created any special file type is to make the file as a .txt file first using Notepad, or Notepad++. Do not use WordPad or Word. Those do not work. Once you have made the file, I always go to the Cmd box and use the old DOS screen to re-name it to a .pal or whatever you are wanting.

Easiest way to do this is to place the .txt file on Local Drive (C:). Then open the Cmd box. You will see the blinking cursor after something like C:\Users\your username>

You want to get this down to where it has just the C:\> To do that type cd..just past the >. You will do this 2 times, then you should see C:\> .

Once there, you will type "dir *.txt" minus the quotes, then hit Enter. This will list all of the text files located on the C: drive. Now, you will do the following: type "ren filename.txt filename.pal" minus the quotes. This should rename the file to a .pal file.

Once you have completed this, type exit and hit the Enter key. This will close the cmd box.

Hope this helps,

John

There is an easier way to get the file extension correct that doesn't involve the DOS command prompt. When saving the file in Notepad, Change the "Save as type" drop down from "Text Documents (*.txt)" to "All Files (*)" and then when you enter the "File name" give it a name that ends in ".pal".

You can grab some previously made .pal files if you search them in Google. Red Team has several already configured for use. Just scroll down here: GRLevelX Tools. Almany Designs also have a ton to look at and download here: Reflectivity. They also have velocity files you may be interested in. There are many pages of files users have downloaded that are located at the bottom of each section.

If you find a couple you really like you can view the current colors and adjust the colors to create one of your own that you really like. Just Google “pal files for grl3” minus the quotations and you should find more than enough.

thanks for the help I've got it all worked out. Just one more thing I'm using the grlevel3 free trial and was wondering if it can still be purchased.I checked the trial forum but it looks like it was taken down...

Hi,
After searching forums, I was hoping to piggy-back onto this discussion rather than start a new post. I've applied for membership in the GRL3 & X owners forum so I can get an update for my install and although I did receive back an emailed verification that I'd applied, I'm still waiting for a moderator to accept my application. It's only been a couple weeks and I'm trying not to be impatient. That said, does anyone know an individual in that group that I might contact? (My warnings trapezoid(s) do not show up anymore and I'm hoping the update will cure that).
Thanks for any help!

Look for Mike, the only admin on the owner's forum. Have you checked your SPAM folder lately. Also, what username did you use to setup your account at the owner's forum?

Hello Mark, yes I checked spam. UN: xxx. I assume you're referring to Mike at Gibson Ridge? Thank you.

Yes sir! Mike Gibson is the man to talk to. Something must be awry because he has never been that far behind that I recall. Here’s his email from his website: admin at grlevelx.com
