• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I'm having a problem with gps gate that when I try to creat a virtural com port 9 or lower when my usb modem is plugged in it will give me the error ([80] failed to create virtural serial port) It will create ports with higher number to run SpotterNetwork, ThreatNet, and mapping software and they all work fine. Has any one else had this issue, and does anyone have any solutions?

When you plug your devices into different USB ports, Windows re-installs the devices under different COM ports. What's probably happened is that Windows has consumed the first 9 COM ports, so you can't use them to create virtual COM ports in GpsGate. Go to your Device Manager which is located under System in the Control Panel. Under Ports you should see a list of devices and their associated COM port. You should be able to change the ports they are using there or uninstall ones your aren't using.

Its looking like that will work, my sprint modem created 3 ports, but i've disable gps on the device, so I just had to disable one of those ports and It's working now, Thank you so much!!!

And what if there is nothing other than Port 6 being used? I have my device manager pulled up and under Ports the only thing used is Port 6 for my GPS unit. I have pretty much the same thing going as Josh said. If you were to open up GPS Gate and go to settings and then outputs, this is where you create a Virtual Com Port for GR3. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 all state "failed to create virtual serial port".

Im assuming this is the reason that when I go to GR and go into the GPS area there is no ports there to choose. Anyway, if anyone has any thoughts that would be great.

I happened to notice this when testing out a few things today before the chase season.

Forget the question, I had to reinstall GPS Gate earlier today and I forgot I needed to copy a driver over after the installation and one other step to make sure the 64 bit driver was installed. Works now!
