I always find it exciting/interesting to see what's hot in chase gadgets for the upcoming season, and who's planning upgrades or new additions to his or her chase equipment.

For this year, I've added the Saturn, and finally grabbed a ThreatNet system for the chase season.

So, what are your plans for StormFest 2009?

No new gadgets for me in 09. I have everything I need. I just need the storms to make it all come together.

I was curious what happened to this gadget, Stormhawk. It looked pretty cool when it first came out, but not sure how good it really was. If you go to their website now it's no longer available for purchase.

I'm going to get a new camcorder. I'm eyeballing the Sony SR12 or Canon HG 21, both are high def 120GB HDD models. I'm going to wait for the '09 models to come out to see if its worth getting one of those or getting a current models after the prices drop. This camera is going on the roof so its counts for that rooftop instruments checkbox too, along with a new Inspeed wind direction sensor. I'm adding temperature and humidity sensors to the rooftop rig too in addition to the windspeed I already have.

I'm also going to get a Verizon data card, cellular amp and external antenna to replace my tethered ATT razr.

I bought a $20 antenna off ebay for my scanner... it's being shipped from china, and I forgot to put my PO Box on it. So, I talked with my Post Office they said they just return items without a PO Box number. So maybe after it goes back across the ocean I will get it, in a few more months.

Bought a Canon HV20 and to handle HD video editing had to update my laptop as well (or so that was my excuse :) ).

Also just received my Canon XSi a few days ago. A few years back I was all about video, but now video is secondary to me. I think last season I shot less than an hour of total video and took nearly 2,000 stills.

I already have a sprint aircard, but I'm planning on purchasing an alltel card so I can go month to month with them. The 5 GB limit has me a little worried about going over, so buying an alltel card and turning it on for a few months will save me the potential problem of going over my limit.

That's what I like to hear . We have donated one of our new SVW819 wireless amplifiers for the Storm Chaser Convention for one of the pizes. The new unit will handle up to 8 devices at once and has an effective range of 6 to 8 feet . Ideal for most Storm chaser vehicles. All the info on them should be posted on our site shortly.

I am going to get a new camcorder before the season starts. I am somewhat holding back to check out the new Sony XR520V. If it really improves on the low light with the new CMOS chip, the new steady cam feature, check the Sony site for a demo looks like a winner if I want to use it on the dash or windshield. The GPS with map built in looks like another nice chaser feature.

I just purchased a xsi dslr camera and it should arrive late next week or the beginning of the week after. Before the season starts, I'll probably pick up 1-2 more lenses.

I'm also considering purchasing a netbook to go along with my MacBook, but I really haven't seen anything out yet that I like. Later in the year, I'll be upgrading my desktop computer to a quad core.

Hoping to be able to get a DSLR, it may not be before this season, but hopefully this year.

but you did forget one choice... vehicles. I'll be upgrading chase vehicles with in the next month or so.
