• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I've been looking at getting a GoPro for a while now, i like the fact you can mount them to the dash and then just the type of images you can get with them.

Does anyone have any experience chasing with them?
I'm looking at either one of the the newest editions, Hero Silver or Hero+ Black. a $100 difference.
is the black worth the extra $100 or will i be just as happy with the Silver?
Or is the whole deal even worth getting?

& also, what mount do you use? Looking to put it on the dash of an Xterra.

Thanks!

Here is a decent comparison to review, if you have not seen already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5u64_TbGcE
I also debated on either/or and went with the black for a host of reasons which I think come down to personal goals and purposes for the device. Mounting, I (will) use the GoPro frame primarily. I get the concept of water tight this and that but I needed the ability to have the GP plugged in while recording. The water tight/resistant cases are great for water fun but really suck when trying to record for an extended period of time. If you end up with a GP know this: you will buy accessories. and mounts. and battery(s) and... and and and and.

It's not a bad thing but the Hero market is as much about accessories as it is about the cam itself.

Hero3+ Black (x2)
Suction kit mount
Water Resistant mount ("breathable")
Waterproof mount
Frame mount
Stick mount
Spare battery
Charger
Spare doo-dad bag

Hope that helps!

Thanks! This helps alot, i'm mostly looking at getting a mount, a charger and the spare battery. We are wanting to keep the cam inside on the dash. I'll just be worried the whole time its on the hood, worried its gonna fly off and 300+ in investments are going to be gone with the wind.

With the suction mount, and frame mount (frame allows the GP to be plugged into a power source), it's excellent at capturing the wide angle view. Outside the car for stationary short, utilize the tripod mount kit/tripod and you won't be disappointed
