• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Hey everyone, I have a very good copy of Significant Tornadoes 1880-1989 for sale. It's a former library book so it has a couple of stamps and such, but otherwise it looks practically new. I'd like to keep it, but I was recently diagnosed with lymphoma and I now have a bunch of hospital bills I need to pay. Anyway, I paid $100 for it, so that's what I'm currently asking. I'd like to sell it quickly if possible; I prefer Paypal, but we may be able to work out something different if necessary.

Here are a few photos:

If you're interested, you can post here, PM me or send me an email. Thanks.

Hey folks, I'm still trying to sell this book. My medical bills have become too much, so I'm just trying to bring in some extra cash any way I can. The book is in excellent condition, and it's really handy to have if you're a weather nerd or you're at all interested in tornado history. I'm just trying to get the same money I originally paid for it, which is $100. That includes the price of shipping, and I can have it in the mail the next day if anyone's interested. I posted photos above, and if anyone wants them I can take some others as well. If anyone is interested or has any questions, please let me know via PM or email me (link in the first post). It'd be a big help for me.

Thanks.

Shawn, I can't afford the book. But I wish to say that I am so sorry you're struggling like this. I will at least share your ad on my FB page. How are you doing and what is your prognosis, if I may ask?

Hi Bob, good to hear from you! I'm slowly improving. I'm in unconfirmed remission right now, which basically means that there's no clear evidence of the lymphoma now, but some of my blood tests are still off and my lymph nodes are still a bit larger than they ought to be. It's a good first step though. Unfortunately, around the same time I started improving, my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer. So, between that and more medical bills than I can ever hope to pay off, it's been a rough time. Getting through as best I can though, and trying to spend time with my dad while I can.

And Jenn, thank you very much for the offer! I'll be in touch with you shortly.

Shawn, I am glad to hear you're in remission. But man, that is tough news about your dad. And the bills . . . I can only imagine how depressing it all is. My heart goes out to you. Most sincerely, I will pray for you. Please keep us posted on this forum. I think others besides me will genuinely care about your progress and will want to show support, Jennifer being a great example.

Most definitely, best wishes to you in your battle with the disease and for your father as well. Get well and don’t let the finances be a stress to your health! My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope to see more write-ups from you on historical storm events, you have a great talent and I hope you continue with more in the future! For people here not aware of Shawn’s work check out the link in his signature for some great reads.;)

Absolutely. Shawn is an excellent tornado historian who digs up the details of an event, sifts through them carefully, and provides accounts that are credible, colorful, insightful, and superbly written.

Shawn, I hope you continue to do well in remission. I am so sorry about the financial setbacks. I already have a copy of the book but if you are still selling it, I can ask around to some of my friends.
