Afternoon everyone, I did a search but I couldn't find if this has been discussed before or not.

I have used F5 Data before and really did like it, but I ran into a couple computer issues and discontinued the service. Nothing against Andrew(great guy) or his product but what do you use(software programs) for your forecasting. Just trying to justify the monthly costs or is there a program out there with similar information and format.

Thanks
Cory

Cory, I used F5Data as well a few years back. I really enjoyed the products but have since switched over to using the free stuff. I created a frameset to easily navigate the various forecast model sites in a consistent format:
http://skip.cc/chase/models/
That's what I typically use to browse the models, but the graphics themselves are from a variety of sites including TwisterData, NCAR, COD, Earl Barker, and others.

I use a little tool I developed. It has one-handed keyboard map selection so it's easy to use. It's all JavaScript based and I'll be working on something more robust in the near future.

Some of the models don't work since I've not updated the model schemas in a while. I'm open to thoughts and suggestions on new data sources and UI updates. Should have something updated and finished, maybe v1.0, by April 1.

I have used F5Data for years and am still a customer today. You just can't beat the amount of maps Revering has all in one place; and in a stand-alone program at that.
Overlays, special combined model outputs and a solid idea of when your models will be rendered and available for viewing are very good reasons to choose F5 over the internet freebies (oh, and there are no advertisements all over the place).
In addition, with satellite overlay, radar overlay and now hourly mesoanalysis - you can't go wrong with F5.
After all of that, I should note that I am a PAYING subscriber to F5.

That link didn't work for me, came up with 404 Not Found.

Hey, Cory, I assume you've tried to resolve your computer issues with Andy, right? He's pretty good about customer care, though I know he's got a lot on his plate right now. But F5 Data is such a great program, it would be a shame to lose it if you can figure out a solution. I agree totally with Steve Miller--F5 is not only comprehensive and beautifully customizable, but it's also easy to use.

I did work with Andy and yes all the problems have been resolved. Yes, I agree it is a GREAT product. I was just trying to conserve a little money and was inquiring to see what other people are using.

Cory
