  • After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Earthquakes in Prague, Ok.

I know that chasing doesn't affect the Earth lol. I was just trying to find a section that would fit the topic the best and this is it "I might be wrong"

Its just the strongest earthquake to hit the OK area and the first time in a long long time for KC to feel one. I was just excited because it was the first time for me to feel one. I thought my first time would be in LA or something. I will be in LA latter this month for the MLS cup =)

Yeah, two 4.5+ earthquakes in a 24hr period. I'm in McAlester, and felt both. One at 2a.m Saturday Morning and then the one after the myriad of college football games. Very weird, rattled windows down here, and all the hotel guests were kinda well, "rattled". OK, I will discontinue posting after the horrible, horrible pun. However, if advection can become decent today and skies clear up over west of DFW. I might take a short drive down there, not expecting much due to horrible LL Lapse Rates and instability. However, I have nothing else better to do.

I live in Lincoln County about 12 miles from the epicenter, and let me tell you it was quite a ride. Lasted about a minute with small vibrations lasting about 2 more (not the aftershocks...still going after the main tremor stopped). Very strong quake, and I must say that while I will get up close and personal with a tornado, I do not like the ground moving! Felt numerous aftershocks as well, several of which were fairly strong as well.

I wonder if anyone appreciates the irony of Louisa County, Virginia being the epicenter for one of the strongest earthquakes on the east coast in the last hundred years, on August 23 --and then having one of the worst fall tornadoes six weeks later in the same county on October 12. Now Oklahoma has had the worst earthquake in recent memory, just days before SPC is expecting nearby tornadoes. Maybe chasers should set up shop in Lincoln County and just wait. There seems to be a connection... (?!?) - - - Dave Hoadley

Another 4.7 (initially rated) earthquake just happened in OK. What a day for people down there. I know some of my friends in SE, KS are starting to freak out after the last couple days.

I felt the 4.7 one from tonight here at work in Pittsburg, KS. The floor started vibrating and desks started shaking.

Back in '89 here in CA, we had a 7.2 quake. Worst quake I ever experienced. Felt like I was on the ocean during a storm. The six point quakes and above I still remember. Don't remember any of the five point quakes. Seemed that there were endless aftershocks for weeks and weeks after that 7.2.

After the initial 7.2 quake, everyone I knew was sleeping with their shoes on and left the front door ajar every night for a month after. Once we got electricity and the phones working three days later, we felt some semblance of normalcy. But that event kept everybody on their toes and making sure that water, canned goods, and basic medical supplies were always on hand.
