Door lock question...

Fords can be programmed to disable to auto lock function by switch key on off a number of times.

How To Disable AutoLocks

Note: Manual transmission vehicles have this feature disabled at the factory. This procedure applies to most newer Ford vehicles, not just Ford trucks.

The enable/disable mode allows the autolock feature to be turned off and on. On manual transmission vehicles, when replacing the remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module, the autolock feature must be turned off by using the enable/disable mode.

The enable/disable mode is entered when the following series of steps is performed:

1. Confirm that the perimeter alarm is disarmed.

2. Close all doors.

3. Confirm that the ignition switch is in the OFF position.

Note: Steps 4 through 8 must be performed within 30 seconds.

4. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.

5. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button three times.

6. Turn the ignition switch from RUN to OFF.

7. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button three times.

8. Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN.

9. Verify that the RAP module chirps the horn. This indicates that the RAP module is now in the enable/disable mode and ready to accept program changes.

10. Press the power door lock UNLOCK button one time to command the RAP module to toggle the autolock/relock feature ON or OFF.

11. Press the power door lock LOCK button once to enter the command.

12. Verify that the vehicle horn chirps one time to signal the RAP module confirmation of the command. There should only be one chirp indicating that the autolock/relock feature has been disabled. If one chirp is heard, followed by a longer honk, the autolock/relock feature has just been enabled. Return to step 10.

13. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position to exit the enable/disable mode.

14. Verify that the RAP module chirps the horn once to indicate that a feature has been changed.

The autolock and the appropriate alarm configuration are turned on at the factory on vehicles with automatic transmissions. Vehicles with manual transmissions have the autolock turned off at the factory. The RAP module returns to the prior setting any time battery power is interrupted.

Unless it is raining real hard, i usually just leave the window open. I love the smell of the fresh air around a T-Storm anyway, of course I dont really know why I would be out of the car when it is raining hard anyway.

Man I am horrible about locking my keys in the car. Lucky I have not done this while chasing yet. I am glad some you have pointed out some very simple tips.

High jacking time sorry but this is funny...

A few years ago I went to the Tag agency to get my car tag and get a Pikepass. Well after I got the sticker tag and slapped it on the license plate I walk over to the driver side door and attempted to open it. Opps… it was locked! Frantically I search my pockets for my keys. Nothing. I then leaned over the front windshield to see of the keys where in the ignition. Yep there they where; safe and sound.

Well ok no big deal I had no place to go and I had AAA. So I call the locksmith and waited about 45 minutes for him to get to the Tag agency. Upon arriving he asked if the white car in which I was standing by was my car? With a stupid look on my face and a smart-ass reply I said no I was just about to steal the keys out of this car. He just laughed...

Well the locksmith went to his van and pulled out is handy little tools then walked around to my front passenger side door. He then gave me a really funny look and turned around with his back to me and started to chuckle. I ask what was so funny? He turned back around and looked me straight in the eyes, all while trying not to laugh, and said look trough your driver side window. So unaware of what the hell was going on I bent down just in time to see him put his arm all the way inside of my passenger side window. He then began to antagonize me by swirling his arm all around where the window should be...

I straightened back up right and just nodded to him and said thank you, got into my car, and drove away.

No joke… It could happen to you too.
