• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I was signing up with Millenicom and have no idea which plan is needed. Are 20 Gigabytes a month enough? I would appreciate your advice on the subject.

Thanks

Thanks Skip! That was very helpful. Does anyone here use this Verizon card?
Verizion USB dongle is USB720. Do you guys know if this would work with Millenicom services? Is it a decent card? Should we upgrade it?

Thanks!!

Bp

The way I understand it, if you want to use Verizon with Millenicom then you have to buy their device (the USB 760), or get it free with their ongoing promotion on the 20GB Plan. The only pre-purchased devices they will activate are those that operate on the Sprint network and that is using the BYOD plan.

Would someone please take the time it took to write that April Fool's Day Joke and fix the search function on this freaking forum so we don't have the same threads over and over?

You can call them and verify yourself, but I just spoke to Millenicom about their plans and apparently the bring your own device deal is for Sprint only. Sprint as well has the big bandwidth plan. If you're interested in verizon it's 5gb... essentially the same thing you get with verizon. Last year I bought a 720 and used it for 4-5 months with Verizon service. Worked fine. I'll be doing the same this year as I don't see any real savings with Millenicom.

No Savings ??????

There are no taxes
There is no contract
With the advanced plan you get 20GB for the same price you pay Verizon for 5GB

It would be nice, but don't hold your breath.

Hey Mike,
I have Millenicom. I love the service. I paid the little extra and got the unlimited plan. I also was using it for streaming videos so was using a lot of bandwith. I also used a hot spot to have more than one device run off of it.

I will let you know one bad experience I had with Millenicom. After about 3 weeks of using the service, I kept losing connectivity. I called tech support and they said they would ship me another device. They never mentioned it would cost me another $99 for the device. And then was told by an agent to send the bad device back and when they received it they would refund the $99. After they received it, I received an e-mail from them stating they would not refund the $99 for the bad device as it was "obviously bad from misuse and neglect." Which is complete B.S. The USB portion became loose and kept losing conectivity with the device. I recommend purchasing a USB extension cable and some double back tape to make sure the unit stays in place on your dash. Do not plug the device directly into a USB port on your laptop. The vibrations in your vehicle will destroy the device when it's horizontal, so make sure the device stays in a vertical position as much as possible.

That's all I have to say about Millenicom. I did file a complaint with the BBB but got no results.

Does the search not work for you guys? Its working fine for me. I did actually look for threads on this topic to merge this thread in with, but the info asked for is pretty well scattered amongst other threads with different topics or from threads a few years old before these Millenicom data plans were available.

Yes it does. I stand corrected and apologize for my last post. Thank you! Seeing so many threads on the same subject led me to believe the search function wasn't taken care of yet.

There is no contract with Verizon the way I handle it. No contract if you have your own device. Activation is around 35 dollars or so, from what I remember. Cheaper than activation for Millenicom. I don't remember the taxes being appreciable on my bill. So, better deal for me is to stay with Verizon.

Of course you want Verizon because their coverage better. . . . otherwise the 20gb plan would be better.

Right, although the topic is repeated, I find these threads useful as newer more relevant information is shared. Unless we wanted to start an 'official data plans' thread, I don't see any reason to complain about the nature of the equip forum.
