Copyright Infringement Reports (Review guidelines in post #1 before posting here)

I doubt it's Mark Humpage... I looked up "futuremet" and came across a few blogs entries at Wunderground.com (http://www.wunderground.com/blog/futuremet/archive.html?year=2009&month=01), which have videos that link to this guy's account:

http://www.youtube.com/user/FutureMeteorologist

Which have videos that carry the "Futuremet Productions" tagline. The guy's (kid's?) name on the account is none other than... Juderson (the account with the stolen videos is "juderson2").

So... I think it's this Haitian kid (he says so in his blog), and not Mark. Could be wrong, but I doubt it ;)

The background image is certainly Mark's. I've dropped him a message so he'll no doubt deal with it.

You are right. I mistook Matthew's post as trying to say Mark Humpage was the guy ripping the video / photos.

The thought did cross my mind but I don't think it is Mark. He has posted here before and does not come off as the kind of person that would do this. When I posted I did not think it was Mark but I wanted to check and be sure. I apologize if my post came off as accusing Mark which was not my intention.

Youtube has new software that "listens" to your audio now. If there is any music, it deletes your audio from your clip.

Depends on the music and who owns it and whether or not they're on good terms with Google. I've got two car restoration videos online and both have commercial audio soundtracks, one by U2 (Universal) and the other by Stevie Ray Vaughan (Sony). Both are live with the audio intact, albeit with ads.

I've had a video pulled by youtube because I used a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. It was a road trip video I made of me and my mates!!
Only weather related copyright issue I've had was a snow landscape that I came across by chance on some English musicians website, a quick email and everything was sorted.

WCM using unauthorized video

WOW, how does one go about tastefully calling out OAX's WCM? Got a tip today some of our copyrighted video was being using by a WCM giving a presentation at the Fermilab Seminar today. What really pisses me off is 1) you can clearly see the watermarks on the video and 2) I am 100% sure this was pulled off the SO 2007 DVD production. The reason why is I PRODUCED THE MAY 5TH CHAPTER!! (and the SO 2007 watermark is in the top left hand corner!!!).

I am DONE giving video and stills to the NWS for training and this is a HUGE black eye for the SO XXXX production.

Links posted to the screen captures from WGN's website.

Needless to say this is one fight I will not be dropping...

That's awesome.....they talk **** about us during spotter training sessions, but will steal our video to assist in these sessions. And now they're ripping off charity material? AWESOME!!!

I'm with Bill...screw the NWS and all the "charity" we've been dealing them for years. They can go out and get their own damn video.

And while I'm at it, unless the tornado is immediately threatening lives, I'm not bothering to report them anymore either. From what I've seen, the only tornadoes that matter are the major ones that kill people; the "insignificant" open-field tornadoes and dust whirls just taint data. It's no longer about climatology, it's about politics.

Well while we are on the NWS using pictures without permission, this spring in a Kansas review .pdf of last years weather they used a picture of mine with no credit or permissions and incorrect storm info. The copy they used still had the poles and power lines before I removed them.

I actually found it again. Page 9 of Severe Weather Awareness Week 2010

It was looking West at an embedded sup inside a heavy squall line that they just took and used their own description for.

Sort of tossing the baby out with the bath aren't you?:D

Has anyone contacted the WFO and questioned them on this?

I am not saying what this person did was right, but to color
the whole NWS because of this persons bad judgment is not right.

To put the public at risk over this is also a little over the top.
A tornado anywhere is dangerous.

Get the details first, then go after the person or persons that
crossed the line. If they caused you any damage or loss
you should go after them.
