Coldest DSLR conditions

I did get very concerned about moisture, as when I finished the star trail image I was shooting the camera was completely frost covered except for the LCD. The lens, focus ring, everything else was covered in extremely thick frost.

I never worry about that with my Pentax,

Just a quick update for those that were talking about battery issues in the cold. Last night my cam well surpassed my expectations. Near 0 temps with fog and haze, got 370 30-second exposures on one charge on a Canon T1i. If your getting 8-10 shots a charge in the cold... you definately need new batteries.

lol that was fun. My 5D II got another good cold testing. The last 2.5 hours of a star trail image I was doing looked like this, unknown to me. I was like, what is on my strap. Frost! Camera simply caked in frost. Temp around 0F. So cold and frosty the tripod was seriously frozen in the snow. Kept pulling harder and harder till finally it came lose.

The battery still impresses me. It was snapping off 30 second shots at 400 ISO constantly for 2.5 hours when I finally made a quick battery swap. Judging by the time it took the charger to show 50% in my car as I recharged that first battery, Id guess it still had 1/3 of a batter. This being done at 0F. Should get 3 hours easy on those things even in that cold.
