It is pretty rare for me to see a civil emergency message such as this one today. All other times, the non-weather alerts were Amber Alerts. But this fire, if indeed it spread at a rate of 5 Miles in 30 Minutes, must be incredible massive.

There is also a fire near Ordway CO, about an hour E of Pueblo. From what I heard on the radio, the whole town of Ordway was evacuated, and a couple of state highways (96 and 71) were closed.

Lamar had a high of 91 today, with gusts to 35mph. It's currently 83/0. Yeah, 83/0, not a typo.

Yep, this sounds like quite the fire. News in the Springs and Denver are reporting on it now; there have been some structures affected in Ordway and US 50 has been closed.

No CEM's here, but there is also a significant fire south of the Springs on Ft. Carson. It is still visible on radar whereas the Ordway fire seems to have left the radar screen. Rough day indeed...hope for some significant moisture out of this next system.

as of 10pm mtn time the fort carson fire is over 9,000 acres. the fire is visible from my house. i took some pics from my fire station will post soon. able to see flames from well over 5 miles away! ash is falling around my area and smoke is starting to lower as temps drop.

Regarding the Crowley County wild fire: KOAA is now reporting that at least twenty structures have burned in/around Ordway, and there have been two fatalities. It's still not completely contained.
