• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I wanted to share how my wife and I look for cheap hotel rates. We used to stop at hotels/gas stations and pick up a little green book that had coupons in it for cheap hotel rates. Its gotten harder to find, so now we just use the online version of the booklet:
http://www.roomsaver.com/
Just go there, and enter your location for cheap rates. This last weekend for example, my wife and I ended up near Clinton OK. Hotels.com had all the expensive hotels, with the cheapest being $77 per night. She then used roomsaver.com and found the Econolodge in Clinton for $41. It was not even listed on any of the other sites. You don't even "book" it, you just get the rate and use it as the "walk in rate". Their standard "walk in rate" was $58. Some places have wanted us to "print off the coupon", so we just use the computer at the hotel to do that. We've been doing this for several years and had great luck getting much cheaper rooms. No, I don't work for them. YMMV, and all other disclaimers apply.

If anyone has any other tips to offer, I'd love to read them. This hobby is expensive enough as it is......

Good day all,

I found the smaller "mom and pop" motels in the small towns really, REALLY cheap. However, the rooms are clean, theres wifi, free breakfast and such. I am actually trying to stay more and more away from the "big chain" motels, those small-town families need the $$ more than them anyway.

For example, away (a few blocks) from the I-80 in North Platte, I found rooms for $28 a night plus tax. really helps as a solo chaser. Over a two weeks span, my Motels costs were about $650, while fuel / gas was $690!!

Thanks for the info. I had never heard of that site but will def add it to my favorites for future use.

I did find that mom & pop places as Chris mentioned are cheapest but also that Motel 6 is normally cheapest "brand name" hotel if you're just on the fly. Regular rates for 2 people and 2 beds range from on average $39-$56 a night. Just depends on location. I think the most expensive one was $71 that I stayed at this year and that was in Independence Missouri.
