Howdy Chasers,

I have become very fond with the twitter setup because its a great way to have a mobile chaser status blog, something to update quickly while on the road. But the bad thing about twitter is everyone of all topic is on it and a lot of business (especially internet and work at home businesses) add you or follow you.

So I took the liberty of creating my own twitter service expect for storm chasers, spotters, meteorologist and weather enthusiasts but mainly storm chasers and spotters. Its new and some pages are still being developed. I also have a custom logo and favicon being made as well and that will be implemented soon.

I just wanted to invite you all to its beginning days, free to everyone...

Thanks! I'd like to see more social networking services made for us chasers, that's why I created it :D You can also connect through it using facebook and twitter as well. I am going to be looking into ways to connect to forums and blogs with it too :)

Just an observation

It'll be interesting to see what Shawn does with this. Personally though, I don't have a problem with using twitter (via hootsuite) or others because almost all of them have means to organize, hide, and otherwise make it easy to have focus on the storm chasers & top weather professionals I follow or am friends with on the various social media websites. The bonus too is it only takes a click or two to then check out family, regular friends, clients, etc.

Is the platform you're using open source? It might not be hard to find one that is, or at least one that allows for some customization so that we can integrate facebook and twitter. This would make it easier for people to get content to the site without having to leave the others if they didn't want to. If the software is open source, let me know what language and I can poke at it. I see that they charge for cross-platform accessibility but I might be able to hack something up.

It is open source yes :) SocialTronix, I plan to do much more with it in time. 17 ppl so far are members, thanks folks for joining up. Got a custom logo and favicon added!

Interesting tool. I haven't played much with Twitter, but it occurs to me that you may want to provide the ability for your system to 'push' messages to Twitter since that is the larger nationwide service most use. That way chasers can be somewhat isolated using your system but the world at large on Twitter can still also subscribe to your service through it.

I was skeptical at first, but I really like what I've seen so far. Shawn, you might be onto something here. But I agree with others, if you could somehow integrate it with Facebook and Twitter I think will be the cat's meow.
