• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Chasers beware !!!

REAL chasers should also beware of imposters who are helping to fuel some negative statements about storm chasers on a regular basis. I look forward to seeing these articles sent to me, there's always a gem or four in what Eddy Weiss always says to the media.

He's now a member of a Hastings, NE media storm team. If anyone is in that area, could you please record some conversations of him on there for laughs?!

I remember surfing around on his site like a year ago. There were tons of pictures and text about everything storm and chase-related, but I don't recall much (if any) material on any of his personal chases or observed tornadoes. I see a guy like this and I wonder "when does he have time to chase?"

He doesn't chase storms, he only gets paid to do talks that he probably reads off of a FEMA pamphlet. I would offer my usual $100 reward for a picture of him chasing storms, but looks like he'll be out in the Hastings/Grand Island area in the near future.

Read some of the stuff he says about chasing and is quoted on, that's your first clue right there he doesn't chase. What's sad, is that he's telling the public this crap over and over and over, on things he has no clue about. He claimed in one article that Baron's Mobile Threatnet would replace spotters in the future. I can't believe they sponsor this guy.

I saw in a few places on his site, he is referred to a Dr. Weiss. But if you look at his "credentials", I see nothing here of a degree. (or did I miss it?) Not there is anything wrong with taking on-line classes, but numerous of them are on-line courses. I don't know if this is a self-imposed doctorate title or if someone else gave it to him.
As far as chasing, I saw a picture on his site where it was cloudy.

I've talked to him several times while chasing in Woodward and from my perspective I thought he was a nice guy. I more or less lived there during 2007 (seemed like it anyway) and after seeing him several times over a few weeks he finally pulled in behind me and introduced himself and we talked for a minute about the storm - he seemed on top of things to me. I was actually impressed that as the EM director that he was out "chasing" instead of having "spotters" out for him. Perhaps its best for CEM to use the storm spotter "methodology", but at least he takes the initiative. I'd love to know what he's seen that has set him off on this route.
