Hello all,

The thread about Leach chasers and a couple of pics that were put up had me thinking- have any of you taken pictures of some of the bigger chase convergences that you've witnessed out there? And if so, please share! I've only been out there chasing for a couple of years now so I'm very much a noob, and have only actually come across a large convergence once, so I am very curious to see how bad it gets out there.

convergence

Just west of Wakeeney, KS 5/22/08
Not real bad, but this was only 4 of the 15 or so vehicles on that small intersection.
Everyone kept their space and the one guy I talked to was nice and genuine.
Supposedly there was a video being shot for a show around here.
I wanted to go around a meet everyone, but the action was about to start.

I grew up on a farm just a mile or two from where you took that picture Derek. Let's just say the natives were restless that day with all the chasers in town. My mom said she saw the circus on her way back into town.

I guess if nothing else, this kind of circus raises the level of awareness there "might" be severe weather in the area.

Wow, That is one huge caravan of chasers. In Idaho I might not get any storms compared to the Great Plains but I sure am loving having the road to myself when attempting to catch up to a svr or tor warned storm. I truly feel for all of you that started back in the day when only a select few chased. Nowdays its an absolute zoo of people. Although I have not seen a chaser convergence in person, the pictures sure do tell a story.

Goodness Jason! Back when I actually could afford to chase the plains... (That's my Silver Honda Accord)

If I remember correctly we had all seen a tornado the day before in the OK panhandle. Great stuff man.

tornado indeed

Yup, near Guymon, OK. I brief spin-up, that barely had a condensation funnel. I was to meet up with Jeff and Chris that day, but never did. Ended up meeting you guys at the Super8 the next morning. I had fallen asleep before they found me. I was parked on the side of the highway, waiting (after catching a brief tornado myself near Borger).

Red Taurus's make great chase vehicles. ;)

It's funny what you see later in pictures at full size. I didn't notice this at the time, just like I never noticed the guy pissing, or scratching himself, or whatever he was doing...in the other(actually that was still going on in this one too, it's just cropped out).

I somehow managed to avoid the huge pile-up on the 22nd. There were people around, but it wasn't really crowded yet. I ended up in that thing near Ness City though... You couldn't hardly get data as the system was saturated. I wonder what it would be like to see a graph of the usage on that tower that day... The only annoying part for me this spring was when you get around the Texas Tech StickNet people. Guys, you can't have that pick-up and trailer stopped in the middle of the road (even with all those lights) while you're transferring the StickNets to another vehicle or doing a deployment.

I shouldn't have started looking at these full sized. May 24, 08 NE.

That is a 200% crop. No matter how many times I try to look at that differently, I still see the killer from "Scream" in there with the mask on.
