Just announced - Canon EOS 350D/Digital Rebel XT - being previewed at Digital Photography Review:

New chase-friendly features that jump out at me are a new eight megapixel CMOS sensor (more resolution and probably still very low noise), instant power-on time, faster shutter release, increased buffer (14 JPEG frames vs. 4 JPEG frames for the 300D - probably a similar increase for RAW images), and mirror lock-up! Will be interesting to see the price point and what Nikon does next (as well as the real reviews - but I bet this will be a very nice camera).

Will it be out in time for chase season for those looking to buy?

Canon has noted that it should be available in March. It certainly is quite an upgrade from the DRebel, and initial mentioning of this camera was in the PMA 2005 thread (http://www.stormtrack.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5094 ). Numerous sources have mentioned that the Digital Rebel (300D) will continue to be manufactured by Canon, with an expected price drop to $599-$699. Meanwhile, the new Rebel XT (350D) will have a price likely near $899...
