Camcorder Suggestions

Okay I figured if there was anyone to ask about this... it would be everyone here! lol I am in the market for a new camcorder and am trying to find a good one to go with. I have already figured out I would like to go with a 3 chip (for quality), something with good low light shooting, and a good optical zoom. Anyone have any suggestions? I have been looking at a few of the Panasonic's... also, I know the GL1 & GL2 come to mind, but Im a poor college student lol, so Im trying to keep it under the $1000 range. I'd really appreciate any help! (If anyone uses the Panasonic GS65, 150, 250...could you please let me know your opinion on it!? Thanks again!)
