Not sure where you're from but you could also check into a spotter class in your community.

Yeah spotter classes are a great way to learn the basics, plus at this time of year they are very abundant. Also, absorb as much info as you can on this board because it is full of some of the smartest chasers, meteorologists, spotters, etc. on the web!

Alright i have looked into some of the classes in the community but right now is hard to find time cause im a full time student and i work 35 hrs a week too. But thinks for the tips and this is one reason im glad to be a member of this site it saves me time and i can learn alot too just quickly loging in and reading some of the post. Im also from Chillicothe Missouri by the way.
Thanks to you all

Josh:

As you learn key information, use the Search icon on this site and "almost" everything you'd like to know has been covered in great detail via past conversations/threads. Much of what you read may go over your head (as it does mine) but you can really learn a lot just by spending time here each day. If that doesn't help you when you're looking for something specific or current, post away and most people will help for sure.

Have fun.

This might be off topic..but I just wanted to say I'm glad to see all the St. Louisans on the board...My home is in STL, but im in NW Iowa for school right now.
I really do think that St. Louis news stations are very very good at getting involved in their community when it comes to teaching them weather..Which is why I believe many citizens of St. Louis are pretty weather savvy....(as are all midwesterners of course :-) )
