• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

AT&T Sierra Wireless AirCard 881

I too am a very satisfied AT&T user. CS has never been a problem.

Yes, it IS slower... but the coverage is excellent, especially down here. On the Feb 5 outbreak, I never lost my data connection and I was in some extremely rural areas. My partner in his car tethering with Verizon had a tough time. It pulls down GR2 AND GR3 for me, uploads spotter network data, runs GHCC Sat software, and handles my web traffic.

And for $60/mo... this is my primary internet, I'm on the Edge network right now. Far from crawling... not broadband but absolutely tolerable. Unless I want to watch videos, it's fast enough.

Alot of it goes back to me having my voice plan with Cingular for over 8 years now. I added a card for an extra $60/mo and have been fairly happy with it. When I get 3G here in the next couple of months I'll be extremely happy with it as far as being my primary internet. BTW I have never been flagged for excessive use and I use this connection every single day and I rarely even disconnect it. Like was mentioned, it just sites idle. I usually leave GR3 running at all times but that's the only data I pull down when I'm not sitting at the computer.

I think what we are all getting out of the different providers is that all are different and none are perfect.

I have been juggling the wider coverage of AT&T vs the faster but spotty coverage of spring and alltel. I finally went with sprint for reasons stated above. I am hoping that a mobile wilson amp router will make up for some of the gaps. Funny thing, only now at the end of the thread do some AT&T diehards finally show up defending their edge cards. Oh well. To late to worry if I made a mistake.

Paul, I think it will just be a matter of trial in error in the end. Try sprint. May work awesome for you. If it does happy surfing. If not, can try ATT, Alltel, Verizon. I have thought about giving Alltel a try due to the way superior coverage in Kansas over ATT. If I could afford multiple I might have ATT and Alltel. But Like other I have been satisfied with the overall performance on EDGE and don't see a reason to change. Trust if coverage were to start shrinking i would drop them quickly! Have a good day everyone.:)

Alltel and ATT still offer contract free accounts if you bring you own phone or card. They don't advertise these but they are still out there if you scared of contracts like I am .
