Anyone use the RV/Trucker Cell Phone Antenna?

Hey Steve, your question made me think of this thread where a similar question was asked about the trucker and super trucker models in post number 27 and 28, and then further down it comes up again in post #39. Actually, I kind of like reading the thread from start to finish (except for my posts) as there's a lot of good information to be found there and is kind of a walk down memory lane for me. Hope it helps.

The Ebay one you reference is mine .Cheaper on my website because Ebay does not get 10% of the sale. And I will put any antenna I have against a Wilson and blow their doors off . And that is documented by independent third party testers ! The second post you made refers to a Yagi . They are for permanent installation as they are directional . You cannot mount on a moving vehicle.

I run the Maximum Signals Rockies Amp, and the Maximum Signals 9db gain Super Trucker antenna. If I can't get a signal, I know I have done all that I can. To my knowledge, this is all I can do. Great luck and very happy so far.

The antenna is so big it looks like a slightly shortened CB antenna.

It all depends where you are mounting . If direct on the roof of the vehicle our 5DB antenna that comes in the amplifier kit rocks . If going on a rack the 9DB super trucker will take a beating especially with the heavy duty spring base.

Gordon, Tell me witch one to order, you know I want 100% the best I can buy!!!!!

I have the one that comes in the amplifier kit but I want better....lol Is the 9db gonna be better? thats the question I guess....lol
I just have never really been a fan of "Magnetic Mount Antennas".

That mag mount mounted on the Roof of a car will give you as much gain . It is not that the Super Trucker under performs . The 5DB 13 inch mag mount overperforms . That antenna is not like any other mag mount other out there . Darn if we have ever been ever to figure out why that antenna performs so well. It acually has outperformed the 39 Inch mag mount in head to head test . All I can figure it is the Perfect Storm . Sorry to dissapoint you just being honest,

IIRC, magnetic mounts perform poorly in general because they have so little ground plane. The magnet does not count as an electrical connection.

But never mind that; if it was my intent to drive through and around severe weather, I wouldn't want anything on the outside of my vehicle that wasn't attached with a permanent mount. It doesn't matter how strong the magnet is, it's more to the point that vehicle body panels generally aren't that thick; if the wind yanks that magnet off your roof and puts it through somebody's window guess who has to pay for the damage?

Very valid points . Plenty of storm chasers using this antenna with great success. It is without a doubt the best mag mount out there by a mile. If you are concerned about bad weather knocking it of there is a cheap and easy precaution you can take . Put a small bead of silicone on opposite sides of the antenna base.It will stand up to any elements. If you want to remove the antenna a quick swipe with a razor blade and no residue of having the silicone there . Every antenna has its own appliction they work best at . Sorry for being honest and not trying to make people spend money when they do not have to . Just how I like to business. And I get lots of referrals , repeat buyers and can sleep well at night because of how I operate. Be glad to take anyones money for the Super Trucker , It is an amazing antenna in its own right.

I have Gordons 9DB super trucker but have used his other antennas and while they are all great the super trucker has been hit by tree limbs hanging out over the road that were in excess of a foot in diameter and it didn't even bother them since they have the spring loaded bases. I have tried them all from the amps to the antennas and I only buy from Gordon now. Not only is it the best product, but it is the best service anyone offers hands down and he supports the storm chasers.
