• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

I have a Canon 5D Mark-II with firmware version 2.0.7 and I notice there is a 2.1.2 available on Canon's website but I can't find a revision history document along with it to determine if it's worth risking some sort of installation failure. Anyone have any input on this firmware? good, bad, indifferent? I only use this camera for landscape and storm photography, and occasional architectural photography. I do use it more and more for video as I become more comfortable using it as a video capture tool. The only thing I can think of that I might like to see (and asked for a year ago) is perhaps 5 frame exposure bracketing. Thanks

Google is your friend. ;)

I haven't updated yet but probably will. The risk in updating firmware is pretty small so long as you follow the instructions.

There is no bracketting or anything major from what I can see. If you want bracketting and such I sugest you look into the Magic Lantern custom firmware. There is a thread here on ST about it.

I've seen that thread and poked around a bit on the web site and that's what got me to looking into my current firmware version. I'm a little hesitant about ML. It seems to have a lot of nice features, bells, and whistles that are probably very worthwhile having but if there is insufficient documentation and iffy support, I'll choose to keep it stock. I'm a little unclear as to why if it loads off the SD card, why does it matter what Canon firmware is burnt in? I'm just concerned I may not have the right firmware and choose the wrong ML version and screw up a rather pricey camera that does what I want it to do ... for the most part. Thanks
