• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

Howdy!

The chase tour company I work for (Tempest Tours) is considering going to American Express for its credit card purchases. I know that some companies don't accept AMEX, so I was wondering if there are any chasers who have had any issues when presenting AMEX while in chase mode --- at fuel stops, motels, Radio Shack, etc.

Thanks.

I would stay clear of AMEX if there is no back-up card for those stops in areas where chains are not available. The higher rate AMEX charges the vendor to run the card might make a mom & pop shop less likely to accept it. That goes for Discover Card too.
Again, so long as you have a back-up card, there are many other benefits to businesses that use AMEX so I can see why they are interested in makking the switch.

As a small vendor myself I do not take AMEX directly . When I started up they wanted 6 1/2 % , I do take it through paypal now as It only cost me a little less than 3 % that way . But I have talked to alot of smaller vendors that have the same issues. I would say use it but I have a backup Visa or MC just in case.

Good day all,

I have Amex (Gold) but use it strictly for airline travel, reservations, hotels, and car-rental (insurance!).

Usually gas, food, and anything else goes on a back-up card, which is Mastercard.

Ans yes, NOT all places take Amex!

AMEX rules....Chris knows that I used it anytime with the rental cars due to the rental coverage. I've had claims, and each time, no more than a phone call later to let me know it's all taken care of. No forms, no testimony, no disputes. Most of my claims have been small however, I do try to keep the rentals from any damage.

The card is great for all things too. And believe it or not, the commercial that makes fun of a business man with the superhero imprinted credit card. I found it to be true....nothing show confidence to a client than someone with a AMEX to let them know they have good credit. The higher the level the better.

I have had a platinum card myself for years . But they have no love for small business. Great for travel , hotels , rentals for sure but alot of retail merchants do not take them due to high fees

2 takes, I put about 10k a month on my card at work and it was a royal pain when we had Amex, there were many vendors I just could not do business with because they did not accept it. Flat our Visa/MC is universal.

#2, I have a checking account where I skim money from my check (To avoid the wife detecting just for chases) I have a E-Trade checking account because if you put $200 in direct deposit per month you get free checking AND UNLIMITED FREE ATM USE, THEY EVEN REFUND THE FEE THE ATM CHARGES. So when that machine says it will charge you $3.50 in BFE KS, you get it back.

Good day all,

I guess I am one of those guys that have the "if you do not HAVE the full amount - Don't put it on 'The Card' - Any card".

I ALWAYS pay off anything on any of my credit cards at the end-of-month / statement time. I hate balances (Amex is good for doing this).

The sole purpose of my Amex is for travel (air and car rental). I also have Discover and Mastercard, and a Visa bank-card. I NEVER used the Mastercard in over a year, and paid the annual fee for it last week and saw the credit-limit on it was like 48 grand ;-P

The Visa and Discover cards are my backups, mainly for gas and auto-bill pay (so there is just a bank transfer from my checking to the discover - no stamps, no multiple bills) and I get reward points for it too since it's paid off ONCE a month. I already got two free airfares from that alone in the last year for chasing!

Credit cards are a convenient tool if used the RIGHT way. Abusing them can get anyone burned - I knew a person and he always used credit cards for even buying things like gum or cigarettes (yeah - financed them) ... He only paid the minimum payment, and after about 5 years he had a $35,000 debt he could NOT put a dent in. He passed away, and his wife had to take up the debt because the shared the card with the deceased.
