Maybe this is already known but I see on the Alltel site that the Tether option is going up to $30.00. I was debating disconnecting until spring and that is when I seen it was $30.00. I wonder if I disconnect now and rehook in the spring if I still get it for the $25.00. I know it is only $5.00 difference but that is still 5 bucks.

If you disconnect, I guarantee they won't give it back for $25. Once it's gone at that price, it's gone unless you keep it connected at that price.

I disconnected my Alltel tether yesterday. They told me the same thing - that it would be $30 next season.

I personally think that they will lower their prices due to the changing climate of the economy by next year. "You can't blood out of a turnip"; so I think they will ask for what they know they can get rather than to lose too many customers. They need lots of customers in an environment that has a certain amount of decay due to the market. They will need perks to get people to sign up; raising prices is no way to do that...

Unlimited tethered at $30 is still cheap. I highly doubt they'll be lowering it next year when compared with the other options out there for mobile data. I'd actually be really happy if $30 is all they go to, after this whole deal with Verizon.

By next spring the merger with Verizon probably will be happening . Does Verizon have a tethering plan? Hopefully Alltel will still have thiers.

They have already posted the $30 price up on the "my account - add feature" page. It is still only about a dollar a day. I only turn it on for the days I chase and turn it off the second my chase is over, so the price hike does not really change anything for me. It just cost about .20 cents more per chase. The price hike is fine by me, because there are big areas of EVDO across the TX Panhandle that were not there until recently. There is now EVDO coverage from Pampa to out past Dumas.

I agree with what has been said, that if it only goes up to $30 I will be plenty happy with that. I turned mine off back in August after my last chase in northwest Iowa, and won't turn it on unless something good happens this fall. Otherwise it will be until the first spring event that I decide to go after... You can turn it on and have it on for only that day or two, they'll only charge you roughly $2 for it. With the pro-rating they do, I don't have a problem with a $5 increase at all...
