9/02/09 NOW: SD/NE

Not sure I understand the current TOR warning in south central SD. It is roughly 60 miles north to south and references a "line of storms capable of producing tornadoes". The southern part of the warning doesn't even have anything on radar at all. Has me scratching my head for sure. Still, at least a local chase opp for those in the SD/NE area.

Watched that line start forming a while ago. A tornado was reported on the ground west of Kimball. That's what prompted the tor warn. SPC monitoring same area for possible watch.

I read all that. My question is why the 60 miles by 20 mile warning?

I don't know, but there's now a definite supercell forming in Loup Co., NE.

Yeehawwww! Severe weather! Haven't seen that around here in awhile (Aug. 17th).

ADD: up to 100 kts of shear detected in the Loup Co. supercell on a recent GR2 scan.
