I chased this evening between Raleigh and Durham North Carolina from 6 to 8pm EDT. A line of storms produced damaging winds with numerous downed tree reports during that time frame. The storms also produced excessive and intense lightning, which led to several fires, and a victim struck in Raleigh with condition unknown. Personally I witnessed winds in the 40-50mph range and the aforementioned lightning. Unfortunately myself and chase partner Dan McKemy got shafted by traffic on I-40 and couldn't get ahead of the storms to keep the chase alive. Below are some pics of some of the action:
Apparently things were quite a bit worse in VA. If anyone has additional reports feel free to add them here. I know it wasn't the most thrilling chase in history but it was halfway decent given the region of the country involved.
