• After witnessing the continued decrease of involvement in the SpotterNetwork staff in serving SN members with troubleshooting issues recently, I have unilaterally decided to terminate the relationship between SpotterNetwork's support and Stormtrack. I have witnessed multiple users unable to receive support weeks after initiating help threads on the forum. I find this lack of response from SpotterNetwork officials disappointing and a failure to hold up their end of the agreement that was made years ago, before I took over management of this site. In my opinion, having Stormtrack users sit and wait for so long to receive help on SpotterNetwork issues on the Stormtrack forums reflects poorly not only on SpotterNetwork, but on Stormtrack and (by association) me as well. Since the issue has not been satisfactorily addressed, I no longer wish for the Stormtrack forum to be associated with SpotterNetwork.

I apologize to those who continue to have issues with the service and continue to see their issues left unaddressed. Please understand that the connection between ST and SN was put in place long before I had any say over it. But now that I am the "captain of this ship," it is within my right (nay, duty) to make adjustments as I see necessary. Ending this relationship is such an adjustment.

For those who continue to need help, I recommend navigating a web browswer to SpotterNetwork's About page, and seeking the individuals listed on that page for all further inquiries about SpotterNetwork.

From this moment forward, the SpotterNetwork sub-forum has been hidden/deleted and there will be no assurance that any SpotterNetwork issues brought up in any of Stormtrack's other sub-forums will be addressed. Do not rely on Stormtrack for help with SpotterNetwork issues.

    Sincerely, Jeff D.

8/5/04: NOW

The foothills are setting off a line of storms now in Montana and Alberta. watches are posted for Alberta and watches and warnings are posted for Montana.

NWS:"DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN EXCESS OF 70 MPH"

Jared

Huge line of severe thunderstorms slowly moving NE across Alberta and now into Saskatchewan.

Environment Canada:
"At 7:20 PM weather radar indicates an intense line of thunderstorms
moving northeast. The line is producing heavy rain, large hail and
very strong winds. Wind gusts approaching or exceeding 90 km/h in
some localities with dime to Nickel sized hail also reported.
Areas under warning should expect conditions to improve in about one
hour as the line passes."

...its going to be a long wait but I think I might see some lightning later tonight in Saskatoon...

Jared

Note this is not confirmed.Tornado warnings out for Ponoka county
near Crestomere earler this eavening.Thease areas are west of hwy2
between Redeer and Edmonton. If the line holds together will go for
some lightning shots,,,wish i had a car.

Here's an update from Environment Canada:

"At 9:30 PM weather radar indicates an intense line of thunderstorms
moving northeast across central Alberta. The line is producing heavy
rain, hail and very strong winds. Wind gusts exceeding 90 km/h in
some localities with dime to Nickel sized hail have been reported.
Numerous funnel cloud reports as well especially in the Red Deer
area, a few of the funnels did initially touch down around 90 minutes
ago, and none since."

Wow, I just checked the echo tops of this system, thinking things were about to fall apart, but to my surprise it appears that these cells are merging into one big mutha around Medicine Hat... interesting...

Jared

Well it looks like Alberta is getting most the action. The storms forming along the rockies and moving eastward. That means that eastern BC is just getting the heavy rain from the squall line. However, I will keep my eye on the southwestern Alberta sounding on the radar (refer to circle). I doubt anything will form on it though.

down to the Alley to see what a real squll line can do,but this was still
nice for us.
