70-80 mph winds hit Sullivan, IL...

I didn't plan on chasing today, but the storms came to me. I was between Mattoon, IL and Sullivan, IL when a severe squall line screamed through. The storm downed hundreds of trees in Sullivan and surrounding countryside. Corn fields (including most of mine) were severely damaged for a stretch of 20 miles. This was the biggest wind event I've ever been through. It was the second worst damage I've seen from straight line winds. First being the Carbondale - Herrin - Marion Derecho of 5-8-09.

Our perfect corn crop blew away.... :(

Here are some shots from the IL squall line. These were taken near Emden IL on RT 136.
