Darrin,

Are you asking about the lack of a CO/WY TOR watch based on the real-time warnings and the reports, or are you asking because you expected there to be a watch out there today (I'm just curious)? I worked day shift and the expectation was that instability would be a little too marginal to warrant a watch. I might have been wrong in my assessment, but the environment didn't look too threatening compared to many other areas.

The 00z soundings from DNR and LBF don't look terribly interesting, so I don't think we misread the environment. I suppose this event produced about the most it could - it happens all the time when you're responsible for 48 states ;)

It's not like it's all 50 states Rich, can you imagine? :)

I wasn't all that surprised. If there's one thing I've learned since moving to CO, don't expect normal when dealing with storms along the front range. The storms were pulsing all day, and rarely were they sustaining severe criteria for long. Couple that with the fact most tornado warnings seemed to be due to reports of funnel clouds, and I agree there wasn't much going on in the environment to warrant a TORN Watch. I'm not even sure I expected a TSTRM Watch yesterday.

Besides, we've submitted a request that no boxes be posted to CO. By doing this we lighten up traffic and keep everyone in KS. We'll see what happens today....part II?
