For what should've been a pretty easy local chase turned into a pretty frustrating one for us. We initially targeted Last Chance after seeing this mornings models but ended up getting suckered on the storms moving down from Wyoming. After seeing nothing but disappointment in those, we flew back to the I-70 corridor just in time to get the wall cloud and rainbow in Deer Trail. Pics and video on my blog.

Great shots Michael!
Today was my first chase of the season, so it was just great to get out! I was on the other side of the Palmer Divide than Michael, and it was my first dance with the magic of this feature. Much to learn about its influence!
I got on the first cell to fire today, and after a great start it died a quick death. I would have gone after the cell that ultimately ended up headed to Limon, but Skywarn duty pulled me back toward Colorado Springs. The last picture is a view of Michael's from the south.

Could the mods also add NC to this as well?
I was chasing down in NC along with a friend, and he happened to capture this on video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LcPDYE8fAA
I believe that it could be a funnel cloud that lowers, but I am not 100% sure...at the beginning of the video, you'll notice that the clouds at the top of the screen are moving to the right while the clouds in the background are moving to the left, so there's definitly rotation. It's kinda hard to see the rotation on the main stuff in the middle, but after watching it a few times, it does appear to wrap around itself. Thoughts?

Having not chased in Colorado before, this was an interesting experience. The storms we were on had updrafts and radar indicated rotation on the NE side of the cells. When the cells split, the southern splits were the ones that died. It's a little backwards from what I was used to.
Here are some pictures and a nice time lapse of the cell north of Limon. All are looking due east towards the N/NE side of the storm. In the lapse, it looks like the lower levels of the updraft are rotating one direction, while a few levels up the updraft are going the other, but I'm sure that is due to the lower level being blown outward.

First time I really chased CO before too, never even considered it, but what a great place!
First storm about 10 miles north of Limon...
Then I went north as soon as this one showed any sign of weakening as I was eyeing new develpment on radar near Cheyenne, WY... got on this storm near Hereford..
