5/28/09 REPORTS: Eastern US

Sat in Athens, OH and just enjoyed the weather for once. With the tropical-like pattern lately the storms have been moving through almost like clockwork, every day between 3-5pm. Today they had a little more punch, although the storms this far north were more pulse like and the ones that lasted took on the formation of segment/linear form and were not very photogenic. We got quite a bit of rain in a very short amount of time along with a few gusts nearing 30mph but nothing very noteworthy. Twenty minutes later there wasn't a cloud in the sky and it was muggy and hot again. Really was hoping the cold front would help forcing today but it remained to far west as it showed with convection through the day. All in all I will take the first real noteworthy convective activity we have seen this year in the area. Really lacking from past years. Definitely ready to head out in the plains if anything ever gets itself together to overcome this annoying persistent pattern.
