On the 55th anniversary of the Udall Tornado, I thought I would start a thread for today's severe weather.

While SPC has a slight risk band from Upper Michigan to the Rio Grande, the chance of tornadoes is in the southern High Plains.

9hr forecast from 13Z RUC has a nice area of 2,500 j of CAPE from southwest Kansas through W. TX and down to the Rio Grande. There is good upslope flow. However, helicities are not significant until one gets to far west KS and eastern Colorado.

If I were chasing today, my preliminary target would be Springfield, CO.
