there has been a rather long lived cell in southwest nebraska that is currently severe warned for quarter sized hail and 70 mph winds! the cell was tornado warned about a 1/2 hour ago with reportedly a confirmed tornado on the ground near cottonwood canyon state park about 15 miles east of north platte. not good timing considering this is a holiday weekend so i'm sure the park is pretty full of campers. appears to be in an area of 1000 j/kg cape and somewhat lower lcl heights. shear isn't real great though generally with 0-3km srh of only about 150!

Interesting how the circulation on that storm appeared to be on the northwest side of it. Doubtful it was a supercell, but perhaps it ingested some mesoscale vorticity briefly when it began rotating. Rotation has significantly weakened.
