5/22/10 NOW: NE / SD / NE

It's depressing watching these streams from work, knowing that you'd be out there if it weren't for having to be at work. And I'm about to never watch tornadovideos.net streams again, because I'm sick of looking at a Dentyne gum advertisement take up 1/3 of the tracker screen, 90% of the time.

I just saw a wide view of the updraft. It has amazing striated structure. I can't wait to see the pictures and video from this beast. I will never forgive myself for not chasing today.

Nor will I.

And another fellow in Indiana I chase with. (we were talking about it then never made plans Friday)

Terrence Cook went for it, though, and scored. Big time. Has some amazing footage reportedly.

I am not surprised. Mesoanalysis is showing CAPE over 5500 j/kg, eff. hel. over 400, in the area of this supercell. Sig tornados are at 9! Rare they get that high. Looks like the tornado may be trashed until it can eat the storm to the south.

Rain is wrapping around the latest funnel. It looks like the storm might be tending towards HP based on the streaming video I've seen. The updraft is taking on more of that thin stretched look with a very wet RFD wrapping in.

Yeah, the thing is cycling. Another hook forming on the southern flank SE of Bowdle.
This is hard to watch - I came *this* close to chasing this wkend!

This is just an aside, because it's hundreds of miles away, but there has been a confirmed tornado in southwest Texas, in Pecos County, near Fort Stockton.

That little cell has been fully digested... Based on the latest scan, I'd say lunch break is over - it's back to producing tubes, or will be shortly...

North sections of Aberdeen are in a direct path now, and if it takes any kind of serious right turn, Aberdeen is in trouble, although it looks like it's occluding right now and might take a left jog as it goes through an outflow cycle.

Update: Ben has updated his status saying that they are ok. Mods please move/delete this post if necessary.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but Ben Holcomb's FB status page as of a few minutes ago says:

Stucki n a fiel.. tornadoes allaroud us!!!!

They are in the direct path of the tornado, according to SN. Does anyone have a way to get a hold of them, or anyone else in their vicinity? Looks like a bad situation for them. :(

James
