Moderators, this is Tim's wife (Shannon Key) posting with Tim's account per his request. I'm doing my best to adhere to the rules but am not very familiar with them, so please adjust the topic title/forum as needed and thanks in advance for the help and lenience. I am in a hotel room with our son, having left Norman around 2pm to avoid this outbreak, and we are exhausted.

The wedge that tracked just east of Norman today went through our neighborhood. Tim evacuated with about 2 minutes to spare. We live 1 mile north of Highway 9. As he looked north after crossing Highway 9, he saw the debris cloud heading into our neighborhood. So we knew the neighborhood had been hit, but we didn't know the fate of our house until about an hour ago. Tim just now reached me via his cell phone from our house, which thankfully is intact. However, the house next door was partially destroyed and neighbors were trapped inside, and the house next to that was destroyed completely. He said it was at least EF-3 damage. He had to cut many large limbs and trees with a saw to make his way back to our house, and it took him hours to get there because of all the downed power lines, debris, and road blocks. From our mailbox, you can now see through what was dense woods all the way to the destroyed Country Boy store about 3/4 miles away.

We lost some chickens, our hot tub cover, some shingles, and have other minor damage and lots of debris in the yard, but are otherwise unscathed. We feel extremely lucky.

Tim will be offline for a while because our power is out and he has a lot of work to do to clean up. I can relay messages and if needed. He asks that the moderators please hold the fort here until he's back online, and thanks you in advance.

Too close for comfort!

In our yard Tim found debris from the nearby (2 miles away) school that was destroyed, piles of shingles against the house, and trees that are "twisted" and fractured up and down the trunks. Amazingly none of the windows in our house are broken, although the yard is full of glass.

I know this against protocol, but I really don't care.

Glad to hear you guys are safe.

Same here guys...glad that you all are fine, and what sounds like minimal damage to your home. Summer and I went through a similar experience on 5/08/03. I you all need anything at all, just ask.

MOD NOTE: This event is a bit of a unique situation given that it very well could have directly affected many of our members. I haven't discussed this with the other mods, but I'm willing to be more lax in regards to the post-event discussion IN THIS THREAD only. We're usually less stringent in DISC threads anyway.

Rules still apply regarding the REPORTS thread.

Chris N., if this thread is against protocol please do feel free to remove it or edit as needed - I certainly don't want to disrupt the board and I know that's not Tim's intention either. I'm sure he will clean it up and make it better adhere to policy if needed when he gets back online. I have logged in with my own account now, having used Tim's earlier on his request, and after this post will bow out unless Tim requests I post something further.

Thanks to all for the well wishes.

Tim called with a few more details. Our metal ladder (16'? not sure, it's pretty big) was moved to the other side of the house. Our 8' fiberglass satellite receiver and two pvc/wire/corrugated plastic chicken tractors are gone. Our wire fences have large holes in them.

A chasing tour got a direct hit today. Apparently this is because of a crazy chaser convergence with some chasers blocking the road. People got injured because of this

Anyone do a quick head count?

I don't think it's against protocol at all. In fact, I think this is exactly where it belongs.

Did anyone do a head count of members in the affected area, and make sure we're all accounted for?

Also, I keep hearing unconfirmed reports of accidents yesterday involving chase teams. I know that one of the DOW's was in a minor accident, but I want to make sure that there's no injuries in our 'extended family'.

Shannon/Tim - glad to hear that the damage was minor. We take care of our own, so if there's anything that you or anyone else needs, let us know.

I am very glad to hear that you and your family are safe and escaped relatively unscathed. Sorry to hear about your neighbors and I hope that they are alright after being trapped in their home. My condolences and thoughts to the families of those killed and injured.

Patrick

Any word on the storm tour group that was rumored to have gotten caught up in a storm?

My friend was on this tour, I think it is F5 but not sure about that. One of the two vans got a direct hit. All windows blew out and most people inside got cut injuries. She was in the other van.

They got stuck into chaser convergence with some chasers blocking the road and they couln't get out of the way.
